Meconopsis cambrica is a member of the Poppy family but it does not fall within the Poppy Genus; Papaver. Welsh poppies have a long flowering period, starting in spring and often lasting until the early autumn. The flowers are yellow, sometimes orange-yellow. At the end of the flowering period, this plant is well known for self-seeding freely. The leaves of Meconopsis cambrica are extensively divided and fern-like.
